Brief Home and Property Description:

A beautiful restored Victorian style home built in 1903. The home consisted of a parlor, living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor, 4 bedrooms and a bathroom on the 2nd floor, a 3rd floor attic and a basement. The current owners bought the home in 1998 and have since renovated the upstairs.

Community History:

St. Joseph was established in 1843 and remained relatively small until the discovery of gold in California in 1848. St. Joseph became the starting point for the journey west as hundreds of thousands of settlers arrived by steamboat and hundreds of wagon trains lined the streets waiting to be ferried across the Missouri River. Their need to purchase oxen, covered wagons and supplies helped establish the economic foundation of the city.

The railroad reached St. Joseph in 1858 which assured its continued growth because of its accessibility by land, water and rail.

Political tension leading up to the Civil War led to the establishment of the Pony Express in 1860 and 1861 and St. Joseph became the eastern terminus. Loyalties were divided during the war which brought violence to the region, but the recovery of the city was rapid.

By the 1870's, St. Joseph became the wholesale center for the building of the West and during the prosperity of the 1880's and 1890's, many beautiful mansions could be found lining the streets. Many of those mansions still exist today.

Growth continued throughout the 1900's and today St. Joseph is the 6th largest city in the state of Missouri.

Current Owner Reportings:

+ When homeowners first moved into the house, only 1 room upstairs had been renovated. They set their office up in this room which included a collection of children's books. Homeowners would come home often to find these books scattered across the floor.

+ Female homeowner witnessed the "Baby Jesus" from her nativity set fly across the room in the upstairs office.

+ The dogs continuously would sit and stair at a particular blank wall in the northwest upstairs bedroom after it was finished.

+ When one of the homeowner's son would be on his way to their house for a visit, the front door would fly open and the doorbell would ring. When homeowners would go to the door, no one would be there and they would soon receive a call from their son on his cell phone telling them that he would be there shortly. This happened continuously and became a joke amongst the family.

+ The female homeowner awoke one night to witness the lamp in their master bedroom fly across the room. The impact was hard enough to damage the lamp shade.

+ The female homeowner was followed home one night by some young boys who had been harassing her on the road. As she stood in the doorway watching them drive around the block, she heard footsteps come down the stairs and felt a presence behind her. She also heard the noise of a certain toy that made a lewd comment go off. Thinking that her husband was standing behind her, she turned around to make a comment about the toy but no one was there.

+ The homeowner's other son used to have his room in the basement. He had a picture of Albert Einstein on the wall. After moving away from home, every time that he returned for a visit, the picture would be found on the floor. Just prior to the investigation, the homeowners found the name of Marvin Albert carved into one of the walls in the basement. This made the homeowners wonder if there was an association with the Einstein picture and the name of Albert carved on the wall.

+ Homeowners do not like the way the basement or attic feel. The also do not like the feeling they get with the servants stairs leading from the upstairs hallway to the kitchen.

Reported Findings and Experiences:

+ Joyce and the female homeowner were sitting on the stairway in the parlor when Joyce mentioned that the little boy ghost liked to slide down the banister. A photo taken soon after this comment shows an orb in motion which appears to be jumping off the banister.

+ A photo taken of the organ in the parlor shows the image of a young girl with light brown hair and an elderly woman with white hair in the mirror. The image is so clear that MPR thought that a photograph may have been inlaid in the mirror or else it was a reflection of a picture across the room. After checking with the homeowners, there is no explanation for the image in the mirror.

+ While Brenda was in the basement, she was engulfed with the smell of antiseptic at 7:43:33. This smell was also detected by Kathy. At 7:44:56, an EVP of a female voice which sounds like "Blah, Blah, Blah" was recorded on video and at 7:45:07, a video of what appeared to be the shoulder of a white misty figure, was captured in the same room. The video will be posted at a later date when MPR is able to transfer it  to a computer file. After mentioning the smell to the homeowners they revealed that a dentist once owned the house.

+ While Kathy was running the video during the same walk-thru in the basement as mentioned above, a partial apparition may have been recorded. A white misty shape appeared for a brief second on the video. A clip of this video will be coming soon.

+ Multiple orbs were captured on the stairway as Joyce and the female homeowner sat at the bottom of the steps discussing rather to conduct a clearing or not.

+ During the clearing, 23 of 26 pictures were positive for orb activity. In several pictures there were multitudes of orbs.

+ Over 50 orbs were captured on video tape. The majority of these orbs were captured in the basement.

Clearing:

A clearing was conducted and a multitude of orbs were captured on digital camera during the clearing. At last report, the homeowners feel that the house is very peaceful now. MPR would like to thank Alonzo Weston, a reporter for the St. Joseph News Press, for providing us with the opportunity to investigate this home.  We would also like to thank the homeowners for their wonderful hospitality.
